CJ Strouds Pro Day Attracts Attention from Multiple NFL Teams

The Ohio State standout is one of the top prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft, and the Panthers are doing their due diligence to ensure they make the right pick.

The Carolina Panthers are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to identify the quarterback of the future, and all signs point to C.J. Stroud being the apple of their eye. The Ohio State standout is one of the top prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft, and the Panthers are doing their due diligence to ensure they make the right pick.

According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Stroud met with members of the Panthers on Tuesday, and they will have a private meeting in Charlotte before the draft. Additionally, the Panthers have sent a large contingent, including owners David and Nicole Tepper, to Columbus to watch Ohio State's pro day on Wednesday.

The Panthers made a significant trade with the Chicago Bears to acquire the No. 1 overall pick, and there is a strong belief that they did so to select Stroud. League insiders have suggested that the Panthers prefer Stroud over other top quarterback prospects such as Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson, and Will Levis.

Stroud's impressive showing at the NFL Scouting Combine earlier this month has only added to his stock. ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. listed Stroud among the players who helped their stock the most, noting his businesslike approach, smooth and fluid passing, and accuracy on every throw. Stroud did not participate in athletic testing at the combine, opting to do those at his pro day later this month.

The Panthers are not the only team interested in Stroud, however. Several other GMs and HC's were credentialed for Ohio State's pro day, including Brandon Beane of the Buffalo Bills, Brian Gutekunst of the Green Bay Packers, and Josh McDaniels of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Stroud was able to thro again at Ohio State's pro day this morning, this time with Buckeyes wide receivers who know his timing and rhythm better than the players he was throwing to in Indianapolis. One of the most notable things about this morning was that Stroud threw to Marvin Harrison Jr. giving GM's, Coaches, and Owners an early look at the projected 2024 Top 5 draft pick.  This will provide another opportunity for Stroud to showcase his skills and solidify his standing as one of the top quarterbacks in this year's draft class.

The Panthers' thorough evaluation of Stroud is a clear indication of their commitment to finding a long-term solution at quarterback. The team paid a steep price to acquire the No. 1 overall pick, and they will undoubtedly be under pressure to make the right selection.

The 2023 NFL Draft is still several weeks away, and there is sure to be plenty of speculation and rumors leading up to it. But for now, it appears that the Carolina Panthers are focused on C.J. Stroud, and they are leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of the talented quarterback.
