Scottie Scheffler Triumphs at THE PLAYERS Championship

Despite not having any perfect rounds on the Stadium Course, Scheffler comfortably won by five strokes over Tyrrell Hatton with a total score of 17-under 271.

TPC Sawgrass is known to many fans as a beloved course to play in video games. So, it's fitting that the winner of THE PLAYERS Championship is Scottie Scheffler, a recent standout in video-game golf. Despite not having any perfect rounds on the Stadium Course, Scheffler comfortably won by five strokes over Tyrrell Hatton with a total score of 17-under 271. Tom Hoge and Viktor Hovland shared third place, two shots behind.

Although Scheffler encountered trouble on the par-4 finishing hole, he managed to save par from 20 feet, 10 inches away, resulting in a 3-under 69 for that round and joining his previous scores of 68, 69, and 65. Since no one else had more than two sub-70s, it's fair to suggest renaming the Konami Code the Scheffler Cipher.

THE PLAYERS Championship was the fifth event of the season, and Scheffler's sixth PGA TOUR victory and second in the series. After each win, he has regained the top spot in the Official World Golf Ranking. In two weeks, he will defend his title at the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play, where he is expected to be the favorite.

Before the tournament, Scheffler was not considered the favorite, with Rory McIlroy holding that title. However, McIlroy missed the cut by three strokes, while Scheffler prevailed despite odds of +1000. Tyrrell Hatton, who finished second, was available at +3300 to win, while Tom Hoge, who set the course record in the third round, was listed at +12500.

Chad Ramey also made an early splash with a lead of 8-under 64 in the first round but eventually finished in a tie for 27th place with a total score of 5-under 283, disappointing those who bet on him at +75000 to win.
